The Best of the Best 2013


Europa is all about relationships. Yes, we’re the nation’s largest sports supplement distributor. But that doesn’t mean we’re all about the products. Our sales reps remind us of this time and time again. Whether it’s by the quality of their character, the size of their hearts, or their unquenchable thirst for the industry, our sales consultants are the best of the best.

Here at Europa, each of us has a passion for living-and for the way we make a living. Otherwise we wouldn’t be here and we certainly wouldn’t thrive here. We are personally and professionally driven to learn all we can about the industry and to help our clients grow their businesses.

We know that clients rely on our expertise to supplement their sales and stay on top of the latest fitness trends. We’re proud to contribute to their success by being their knowledge partners. We eat, sleep, and breathe this industry. So our clients don’t have to. After all, they have businesses to run.

Every year, Europa holds an awards ceremony in conjunction with a conference exclusively for our sales consultants. The annual event focuses on education, team building, and defining new ways that each sales rep can excel in this industry, and at Europa. The conference culminates with an awards ceremony. Various sales reps are honored based on peer reviews, sales statistics, and humanitarian efforts.

Europa Sales Consultant of the Year: RYAN LOWMAN

Ryan LowmanRyan Lowman has been part of the Europa team since 2008. Ryan has educated customers on supplements and been the friend, go-to guy, and consultant that many customers trust and depend on.

According to sales manager’s Justin Weeks and Rick Hurd,,“We would like to congratulate Ryan Lowman on winning our Sales Rep of the Year award for 2012. Ryan joined the Europa family 5 years ago and since then has been an integral part of our growth and success in the Midwest market. Over the past 5 years Ryan has upheld the ideals that make Europa great. He has worked hard to add value and treat customers, vendors, and employees with the upmost respect.”

Europa’s “Sales Consultant of the Year” is not an award based on numbers, but more on a consultant’s work ethic and all-around qualities and traits that peers admire and respect. To put it simply, it’s based on everything else a consultant does that makes them a role model for the entire sales department and company.

Ryan had this to say about the award, “I can’t imagine doing anything else but working for Jeff and Eric! What they’ve done for me in my 5 years here is life changing! I get to come to work and be with my best friends, talk about an industry I love, and work for the best company in the world. To be honored with the Sales Rep of the year award is so gratifying.”


Rookie of the Year: LUCAS BICKNELL

Lucas BicknellThe “Rookie of the Year” award is bestowed upon a consultant that’s been in Sales between 6 to 17 months. This award is based on average sales rankings for the duration of time the consultant has been in Sales.

Europa’s Rookie of the Year is Lucas Bicknell. Lucas joined Europa in 2011 in Sales after graduating college and working for a beverage wholesale distributor.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to work for such a morally reinforced company. A company that has built a strong reputation for excellence and that at every turn takes the chance to build up their employees and gives them the tools they need to succeed,” states Lucas


Field Consultant of the Year Award: JESSE GROVES

Jesse GrovesThe ‘Field Consultants of the Year’ Award was awarded to Florida’s Jesse Groves. This award is based on total stores and gyms visited, new accounts opened, increase in sales of visited accounts, and best communication inside and outside the company. This is Jesse’s second time winning the Field Consultant of the Year award.

“I am extremely grateful and humbled to have been given the award of Field Consultant of the Year for the second time. 2012 was a year that really tested me personally and spiritually, but having the Europa family there to support me along with my family and friends really made a difference when I approached each day. I want to thank Rick, Justin, Robbie, Jeff and Eric for always supporting me and giving me all the right tools to stand out and create my own success within Europa,” states Jesse.

According to Sales Managers Rick Hurd and Justin Weeks,“We would like to congratulate Jesse Groves on winning the ‘Field Rep of the Year’ award for 2012. Jesse joined the Europa Field team early in 2011 and instantly made a dramatic impact. His passion for the fitness industry and his love for supplementation has created a lot of great value for the central Florida market place.”


FDM Sales Manager of the Year Award: TODD COLLIS

Todd CollisThe year’s ‘FDM Sales Manager of the Year’ Award was awarded to Todd Collis. Todd has been a sales manager in Europa’s Food, Drug and Mass department (Europa FDM) since 2004. This award is based on peer vote, quota percentage and sales dollar goals.

“It is a tremendous honor to receive ‘FDM Sales Manager of the Year’, I’ve used the following strategy to help achieve my goals which is to improvise, adapt and overcome. It has served me well,” states Todd.

From FDM Director of Sales David Hegel, “Todd has been instrumental in growing existing accounts with tremendous vendor relations and making sure his service to his accounts is unsurpassed.”


Linny Mac Humanitarian Award: DAVID LEE

David LeeThis is the fifth year for the Linny Mac Award Humanitarian Award, named after Sales Consultant Lin McAteer, who passed away in 2008. Lin did many noble activities; more than can be mentioned here but a few notable stories include anonymously paying for a disabled boy’s gym membership who couldn’t afford it. Another story was when Lin heard of a gentleman who had a history of drug and alcohol abuse and started training at one of the gyms where Lin was a member. Lin started training and counseling him and the gentlemen beat his addictions and ended up becoming a minister. Lastly, Lin had over 30 gym memberships when he passed. A testament to the fact that he always believed in “paying it forward” to his customers, friends and people he didn’t even know.

David and LinBased on these qualities, the fifth annual Linny Mac Humanitarian award was awarded to Sales Rep, David Lee. David has embodied many of the traits that the award was founded upon. He has personally affected many of his co-workers with his presence, insight and humble demeanor. A Europa institution unto himself, David Lee has been with the company since 1993.

Lin McAteerAccording to Eric Hillman, Europa Sports CEO,”When David Lee speaks, people listen. He has a dignity in how he carries himself and his fellow teammates respect him for it, just like Linny Mac. It’s an honor to give the Linny Mac award to David.”

From David himself, “Just to be mentioned in the same sentence as the other recipients of this award is as much of an honor as to receive the award itself. Romans 10: 9-10 and consistently renewing my mind to who I am in Christ is the only reason I am the person I am today.”
