Europa Sports Winner in 2009 NBJ Business Achievement Award

2nd Year in a row as a ‘Growth in Large Companies’ Award Winner.

Nutrition Business Journals annual Business Achievement Awards were recently compiled and published, and topping the list for Industry Growth in Large Companies Category was Europa Sports Products.  This marks the 2nd year in a row Europa was selected as an NBJ ‘Growth in Large Companies’ award winner, and the 6th year in a row as a recipient of an NBJ Award.

Europa posted 18% sales growth in 2009 compared to 2008, with projected year-end revenues totaling $189 million. In 2008, Europa achieved sales of $162 million on identical growth of 18%. Once again, sales were driven in part by Europa’s innovative Food Drug and Mass (FDM) department, which saw sales growth of 41% in 2009. FDM is a supply chain management service that allows mass market and major retailers of dietary supplements and nutritional products to partner with Europa and monitor real-time sales trends through its proprietary system. It allows retailers to select products based on sales performance rather than committing to a specific brand. FDM has more than tripled its revenue since 2006.

Since January 2009, Europa has added 37 vendors, which brought in an additional 283 products. The company has also added more than 800 new products from its existing vendors — which brings Europa’s totals to 210 vendors and 4,700-plus products. Moving forward, Europa’s growth strategy is to find faster ways to get products into the consumers’ hands; hire the right employees to meet the increasing demand; and create a fun work environment.

Europa Sports Products, founded by CEO Eric Hillman and COO Jeff Compton in 1990, is a leading distributor of sports supplements, drinks and accessories to gyms, health food stores and specialty supplement retailers.  Europa will continue to make the necessary improvements to continue to be the industry leader in supplement distribution.
